Before the year ends, check out these kitchen renovations that will trend in 2025. Whether you want to add function to your kitchen, refresh your environment, or stay trendy, a renovation is the way to go!

25 Upcoming Kitchen Trends

Let’s take a look at all of your options for kitchen renovation trends. Some of them have similar aspects, but they all have their twists:

1. Enclosed kitchens. With sound-dampening features and enhanced privacy, the kitchen becomes more multifunctional.

2. Brass kitchens. If you want to add a timeless, modern, personalized touch to your kitchen, opt for brass handles, faucets, and other fixtures. You can contrast the brass with cool materials, such as concrete or marble.

oak kitchen

3. Oak kitchens. Renovating your kitchen to be an oak kitchen is an investment in the future of your home. Oak resists stains and becomes more beautiful over time!

brutalist kitchen4. Brutalist kitchens. For an urban and modern look, use a monochromatic palette and natural light instead of bright colors. You can characterize these kitchens by glass pantry doors, brass fixtures, and industrial materials like concrete, steel, and stone.

organic kitchen design

5. Organic kitchens. An organic kitchen blends seamlessly with other parts of the home. The aesthetic makes homeowners feel connected with nature. The focus is on natural elements, including wood, white oak, clay, and stone.

The color scheme consists of muted colors, such as warm brown, green, and soft beige.

shaker kitchen

6. Shaker design. The Shaker trend is rooted in 18th-century minimalism. It’s a simple, functional design with clean lines and old-time quality craftsmanship. The color scheme consists of whites, soft pastels, and grays.

You’ll see stone countertops, lots of wood painted in neutral tones, ceramic tiles, stainless steel, or brushed nickel hardware.

mid century design kitchen

7. Mid-century design. This style blends the 1950’s and 60’s retro look with modern updates. They’re both sleek and minimalistic with slab-style cabinet doors, geometric backsplashes, open layouts, streamlined appliances, neutral tones, and bold pops of color. The color scheme consists of white, taupe, moody greens, and bright colors, like mustard yellow, teal, and orange.

mediterranean kitchen

8. Mediterranean design. Inspired by kitchens and landscapes in Italy, Spain, and Greece, many details go into the Mediterranean kitchen design. You’ll see arched doorways, wrought-iron fixtures, colorful mosaic tile countertops and backsplashes, dark wood cabinets with ornate carvings, plants, clay pottery, wood, stone, and ceramic materials. Additionally, you’ll notice an open layout and natural light, as well as terracotta, deep blue, warm woods, white, and mustard yellow colors.

9. Beach design. This style blends comfort with modern pieces. The overall look is bright, natural, and open with beach-inspired accents, such as starfish, seashells, and driftwood. So, of course, there are large windows, white cabinets, open shelving, and all-natural materials.

Other characteristics of a beach design kitchen include Bohemian-style chairs and simple lines. The color scheme is soft blue, sandy beige, crisp white, pops of turquoise, blues, and greens, as well as light wood finishes.

rustic kitchen

10. Rustic design. This trend includes many natural materials: antique-looking metals, exposed wooden beams, stone walls, unvarnished wood cabinetry, open wood shelves, brick backsplash, and granite or soapstone countertops. According to LAURYSEN, the Rustic design “celebrates texture, rugged charm, natural imperfections, and organic beauty.” They have a simple, functional layout with earthy tones.

cottage kitchen

11. Cottage design. If you’re going for a traditional, charming, cozy, and classic vibe, this is for you. The design features painted wood cabinets and floors, beadboard paneling, open shelving, natural light, colorful dishware, and floral patterns. Additionally, you’ll see glass cabinet doors, vintage brass fixtures, painted ceramic tiles, light or pastel cabinets, and wood or marble countertops.

The color scheme includes neutral tones, warm whites, pastel shades, soft green, and pale blue.

farmhouse kitchen

12. Farmhouse design. The farmhouse kitchen is rooted in traditional and rustic design, but it adds warmth, charm, and aspects of local rural heritage. The focal point is a large island, and natural elements are prominent. There are quartz, granite, or butcher block countertops,  porcelain or stainless steel sinks, Shaker-style cabinets, and open shelving. There may be pastel accents that compliment whites, creams, and light grays.

traditional kitchen

13. Traditional design. This style is old-fashioned, ornate, and formal. It includes granite countertops, porcelain sinks, and furniture-style rubbed cabinetry with raised panels or glass inserts and brass hardware. These kitchens have deep, rich colors, like browns and beige.

modern kitchen

14. Modern design. The modern aesthetic features strong horizontal lines, a lot of negative space, frameless cabinetry, high-quality wood, and reflective surfaces. There is an abundance of white in these kitchens.

transitional kitchen

15. Transitional design. These kitchens blend traditional and contemporary styles. The colors are neutral and pastels, and the backsplashes are low-key. There are shaker cabinets, statement light fixtures, and countertops made of natural materials, like marble.

contemporary kitchen

16. Contemporary design. This style is constantly evolving and incorporating current trends. The components of a contemporary kitchen are open shelving, granite or marble islands, stainless steel appliances, and dark cabinets with white counters.

17. Classic design. According to LAURYSEN, the classic design has “many principles of traditional kitchens but in a simpler, more restrained way.” Its characteristics are wood cabinets with a small accent, like a narrow strip of bead molding, and white colors that contrast with either black, brown, or gray.

induction cooktop

18. Sustainable kitchen design. Over 90% of homeowners opt for sustainable kitchen renovations. The features include:

    • Environmentally friendly light bulbs and appliances
    • Large windows to maximize natural light
    • Induction cooktops, which cook faster than electric or gas ranges
    • A boiling tap to decrease the use of the stove

pantry

19. Large, quality pantries. It’s a trend to have a pantry that can fit small appliances, such as a sink, coffee bar, beverage fridge, and even counter space.

concealed kitchen

20. Concealed kitchens. The whole idea of a concealed kitchen is to eradicate the appearance of clutter. These minimalistic kitchens have a lot of hidden storage: refrigerator pullout drawers that look like cabinet drawers, full-length doors to hide shelves, flush cabinetry, and built-in refrigerators.

21. Shaker cabinets with unique details. These trendy cabinets have a twist: bold colors, eye-catching details, and inset construction. They could also have decorative latches and reeded cabinet doors with a ribbed look. The color scheme is pink, green, and earthy tones.

double islands

22. Double islands. You can use one island to work and one to socialize, eat, or store items.

T islands

23. T-shaped islands. These islands are great for extra work and storage space, as well as bringing in “a pop of unexpected design,” according to Exploding Topics.

24. Curved kitchen islands. Curved islands give the kitchen a softer appearance. Some islands even extend into a round dining table.

25. Smart appliances. Speedy, smart appliances can connect all facets of your kitchen:

    • You can preheat and change the temperature of a GE oven from your phone anyway.
    • You can use an app to live stream the in-oven baking process. The app can recognize over 80 dishes and alert you when your food starts burning.
    • Samsung’s Family Hub feature allows you to share photos, stream music, and watch TV directly from the fridge.
    • The fridge can send the oven cooking directions and create shopping lists.
