Solving This Year’s Halloween Conundrum

October 14, 2016/in Blog, Community /by Rebecca Garza

Trick-or-treating is community at its best. Adults, young and old use their resources to buy candy or toys to hand out to local children. A spark of mystery is in the dark air, full moon bright in the sky… wind blowing leaves around the ankles of the little goblins and ghosts wondering if they really could pull off a trick if no treat is offered. Moms and dads catch up over hot chocolate in thermoses waiting at the ends of driveways. Neighbors appear at doors who are seldom seen and surprise you with pure delight at the maturation and appearance of those growing up in view.

Why Should You Care if a Local Small Business Succeeds?

September 12, 2016/in Blog, Business, Community /by Rebecca Garza
Why you should care if a local small business succeeds
According to Intuit Canada, 15% of new start-ups fail in year one, while 50% won’t be able to celebrate a five year anniversary. 6 Tips For a Smooth Back to School Transition

August 7, 2016/in Blog /by Rebecca Garza

Adjusting to the first couple of weeks of school in the Fall can be hectic. Here are six tips to make the transition easier for the whole family.

1. Start practicing bedtime and breakfast roll call the week before school.

This will eliminate the first couple weeks of school morning-tug- of-war. Your children will know what is expected, and their bodies should have adjusted their internal clock by the first day of school, to wake up on time out of habit. Decide what bedtime is appropriate for each of their age groups, and what time everyone must be up by to account for showers, getting dressed, eating and brushing teeth. Practicing the week before allows for trial and error to get it just right.

How to reduce employee turnover

In today’s competitive job market, employee turnover is becoming an increasing concern for today’s business owners, especially since high employee turnover hurts a company’s bottom line. And frequent turnover can damage morale among remaining employees, thereby hurting the corporate culture.

In this article we will discuss how you can safeguard the capital you’ve invested in your employees and their talent.

plants that increase productivity

For decades, many have been contemplating the usefulness, as well as benefits of plants indoors, to increase well-being and remove toxins. Well, after 10 years of research, the now the guess-work on the health benefits of plants has been put aside, as Dr Chris Knight from Exeter University and his fellow psychologists, concluded that employees were 15% more productive when offices are filled with just a few houseplants, as employees who actively engage with their surroundings were found to be better workers.

Marketing to Millennials: The Do’s and Don’ts

February 22, 2016/in Blog, Business /by GetAssist Author
GA_Blog_Millennials.jpg

Years ago, to get your content read by the masses, you would take out an ad in the local newspaper, or set up a radio announcement. This would ensure that the vast majority of the population saw your information. Unfortunately, the number of channels we use to communicate has exponentially increased, making it incredibly difficult for this approach to be effective. And if it is effective in the slightest, measuring ROI is absolutely impossible. With so many channels to choose from, users hardly ever get all of their information from the same place.
